M.U.S.C.L.E.  Bandai (Tose)19851 player or 2 players simultaneous competitive.
Despite having on tag team more, a cooperative play mode is not available.
[Zerothis]***I give this anime-licensed title my respect for being one of the earliest tag team wrestling games. You choose two from eight available players, which are all rather weird looking, although the graphical representation of the characters leaves much to be desired. Also the rest of the graphics are rather plain looking, which in itself is not the most important thing, because it is an early NES/Famicom game after all. More important is the playability, which is a quite bad. The move-repertoire is limited to only a few basic moves. Sometimes a power pill is thrown into the ring and the character who catches it first is enabled to use a super attack move for a few seconds. I found this element too decisive to win a fight.***Widely-ridiculed wrestling game based on the popular Kinnikuman series (known as M.U.S.C.L.E. in the U.S.).

Tag Team Pro Wrestling  Namco;Data East (SAS Sakata)1986You are challenged to match the awesome skills of your opponents...to gain the Title in the World Super Championships of TAG TEAM WRESTLING

Teamwork and stamina are the keys, as you and your partner battle your way through the Title Matches on your quest for the Belt. Attack your opponents with Body Slams, Drop Kicks, Backbreakers, Flying Head Butts, or even throwing them out of the ring! To win, its a pin for a count of three. Nothing can match the super excitement as the crowd cheers over this mania on the mat. Prepare yourself for Tag Team Wrestling!

DATA EAST BRINGS YOU ARCADE REALISM AT HOME!***One of the many early "not so good" wrestling games. The controls are strange. When you grapple with your opponent and you get the initiative you have to select one from a few different moves by scrolling through a list of moves with the second button. I found it to be too much based on luck whether you or your opponent gets the opportunity for an attack. The next huge issue is the fact that you fight against the same team again and again until you lose. There is no variety at all.***A loose translation of the original arcade game. The gameplay seems to have improved (grappling is now much more controllable), but the set of selectable attacks has been altered and the graphics are understandably more primitive.

Strangely enough, the hero team in this version looks suspiciously like New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Riki Choshu and Super Strong Machine.

[47]***First released for the Famicom Disk System in Japan, Nintendo brought this wrestling game to the western world in 1987 on cartridge. The game didn't change in the process. Well, I don't like old wrestling games very much, but I must say that Nintendo's Pro Wrestling is a better representative of its kind. It was the third wrestling game for Nintendo's 8-bit console so far (after the weak [game=#7971]M.U.S.C.L.E.[/game] and [game=#8294]Tag Team Pro Wrestling[/game]). You can choose between several, different enough fighters, the controls are ok as are the graphics for its time.***1 player or 2 players simultaneous competitive.

I'm not sure how this entry was marked with UPC:0-45496-63029-6; an invalid code. The valid UPC is 0-45496-63029-6; and is seen on boxes from the USA and Spain.
[Zerothis]***This game is a true classic! When people think of wrestling on the NES, this is usually what they think of. The wrestlers are colorful and interesting (watch out for the Amazon's head bite!). It's fun to play with a friend, too! Never forget: A winner is you.

[52]***The first real WWF game (excluding Micro League). Unfortunately, this game is more about brawling than wrestling. Punch and kick the opponent, then pin him for a three-count. Choose from seven different wrestlers, including Hulk Hogan, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, and Andre the Giant.

Tecmo World Wrestling  Tecmo1989It's your call from the opening bell to the final pin. Select your wrestler and take on any challenge. Every bodyslam, every cobra twist and piledriver brings you closer to victory. Will you be the one receiving the Tecmo World Wrestling Championship Belt?***

[Zerothis]***Tecmo World Wrestling is a pretty innovative wrestling game. You have your choice of a number of characters, all of whom are patterned after real-life wrestlers. However, it's the extra bells and whistles that make this one special. Wrestlers can train before matches to build up their power through push-ups, sit-ups, and squats. During the match, a commentator at the bottom of the screen will call the action. Should you hit your opponent with one of your specialty moves, the game will play a short cinema to show off its devastating power. Tecmo World Wrestling is probably worth a try if only to see these features in action.

WCW World Championship Wrestling  FCI;Pony Canyon (Nichibutsu)1989Challenge the world's greatest wrestlers in the grappling action game that puts you in the toughest competition of all! Choose which wrestler you want to be or make up your own tag team from top NWA stars including: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Sting, "Total Package" Lex Luger, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Road Warriors "Hawk" and "Animal," and "Dogface Gremlin" Rick Steiner. Become your favorite wrestlers as you battle it out in the ring!***The first-ever WCW game, which is an altered version of the Japanese game Superstar ProWrestling and is argued to be one of the best wrestling games for the NES. Play as any of your favorites from the early days of WCW, including Ric Flair, Sting, and the Road Warriors. World Championship Wrestling is first game released in the U.S. to implement a 'finishing move' that can only be used when your opponent is weakened (although the concept of a 'specialty' move had been around since at least Pro Wrestling on the NES). However, the computer is notoriously difficult to play against, even on the first opponent. The graphics aren't much to speak of, either.

[27]***[media=youtube]lTm67dQ8fAg[/media]***The second WWF wrestling game released for the NES. Nine characters are available, including The Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, and the "Macho King" Randy Savage. The music reproduces all of the wrestler themes quite well. Not only is there a single-player and tag team mode, but this is the first game I've seen with the ability to have a three-on-three tag match. The movement of your wrestler takes a little getting used to, and the controls aren't quite precise enough. If you need a WWF game for the NES, this one is at least better than the previous Wrestlemania.

WWF Wrestlemania: Steel Cage Challenge  LJN (Sculptured Software)1992A semi-primitive wrestling game that is in some ways a step down from its predecessor, WWF Wrestlemania Challenge. There is quite a cast, with the regular favorites, as well as newer characters like The Undertaker, 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper, and Irwin R. Schyster. However, the number of characters seems unnecessary, as they differ only in appearance and theme music. As the title suggests, players can choose to wrestle inside a steel cage and attempt to escape rather than having to go for the pin.
